First Day of School 2011

The girls started school on Monday.  Addison is in 3rd grade and Libby is in 1st grade.  Amazing!  Where did the time go??!  They both love their new teachers and are getting to know new friends. Homework hasn't really started, so we'll see if they change their tunes once that gets going :)

Of course, I couldn't snap pics of the girls without Brother jumping in front of the camera!  Levi will start preschool in a couple weeks, so I'll post his first day pic then.

A note about Levi's clothes:  He picked them out himself, which is unusual.  While My Boy never complains when I pick out his clothes/dress him, he whines if he's expected to do either of those things!  What a change from 3 year old little girls!  I don't want to completely corrupt him, so I am making him pick out his own clothes and dress himself these days.  Yesterday he wore his too-short Wranglers with an old t-shirt and flip-flops and wouldn't heed my advice about shorts, (I mean, why should he?  It's only been getting up to 105*/106* this week!) so he proceeded to whine most of his ride in the jogging stroller on my 4 mile run.  Amen for an Ipod and earbuds :)

First Day of School 2010

Both my sweet girls went off to school this year! Libby was so excited to begin kindergarten and Addi's a big 2nd grader. I keep reminding her 2nd grade was my favorite grade to teach.

Levi (and I) feel a little lost without the girls around most of the day. He's starting to remember that as soon as naptime is over, we go pick his sisters up. The last couple days he's woken up saying, "It time go get Addi and Libby!"

The girls are both adjusting. It's old hat to Addi and she thrives in school. By today, five days in, Libby is tired and missing home. Hopefully by Sunday evening, she'll be excited to go back again.

I'm already counting the days to their long Labor Day weekend!

day 99

Reagan loves pretty things. Most girls do, I suppose. Her older sister certainly does and I do, but her enjoyment of pretty things is on a whole other level from Addi's and mine. She's been so excited about wearing her Easter dress this year. She had planned on wearing it to preschool tomorrow, but I just couldn't let her. That girl is messy! There's rarely a day she doesn't walk out of her classroom covered in some sort of food, marker and/or paint stain. Don't get me wrong, I love that she's being a kid at preschool! But, I just couldn't send her in her new Easter dress. Instead I pulled out Addi's Easter dress she wore when she was 4. I love that dress and would've had Libby wear it this year, but I had trouble coming up with an option for Levi. I just don't think I could've put him in lavender. (Bryan might have put his foot down :) I originally saved it thinking Libby would wear it and now she will. Of course, she can wear it to church also...just not on Easter. So, here are some scanned pictures of my girls from April 2007. I love them because I'm reminded how scared Libs was of the bunnies. She attacked the bunnies the year before, so that's totally what I expected. Instead she shook with fright!

Addison's devotion to her sister knew no bounds on the day Libby had surgery. She stayed by her side, only leaving at Libby's request of something not found in my room, like refilling her "canteen" (as Libs dubbed the thermos Grammy brought her). I even caught her feeding Libby : ) *Libby kept complaining of her legs sweating. (Maybe a side effect of the anesthesia??) If you live in her world that's the prefect reason to take off your top. You can't see, but she did keep her pants and socks on.

No Mediation Needed

{coming inside after jumping on the trampoline}

Addi - No, I want to play Chutes and Ladders!

Libby - But, I want to play kitchen!

Addi - That's not fair because we played 2 things you wanted to play and we've only played 1 thing I've wanted to!

Libby - Well then, I'm just not going to play with you!

Addi - Fine! I'm going to throw your necklace in the trash!

Libby (with a smile on her face and the sweetest tone of voice you ever heard) - Why? I'm going upstairs to play Chutes and Ladders.

And they lived Happily Ever After...

Yesterday, I took Libby and Levi to Addison's assembly at school. Since her birthday was Wednesday, she got to go onstage for the Birthday Song and we did not want to miss it. Addi's teacher asked if Libby wanted to sit with her sister and, you better believe, Libby did! In fact, she wanted to stay with Addi all day long!

I know this was yesterday's picture, but I have no excuse. Also, it has been brought to my attention that I apparently cannot count past 20...I've re-titled the 2nd posts previously titled photo 20, photo 21, and photo 22. Again, I have no excuse and I'll try to pay attention in the future! I may or may not (What can I say? I like flexibility.) post a picture later today of either bowling last night, picking out the American Girl doll, or some other random picture from the last 27 years of my life. (I think I'm finding some sort of odd control-factor in being non-commital flexible.)
